What values are you deriving from the social media, apart from
connecting with friends or sharing some moments of your life? I sometimes wonder why some people have a lot of followers and friends on their social media, and the only activity they carry out on such account is; posting their photos of a pose in the toilet or a very annoying update. Ironically, they are encouraged with attention ( Comments, Favourite, Likes, Retweet, Share etc ) from some of their online friends. Anyway, it all depends on the story of the message shared, target audience and how they react to it.
Hey! If you are on any of the social media, and all you have got to do is to post and view photos or perhaps chat with friends, you are missing out; you should be obtaining more from the medium. Owners and smart users of the social media are getting more from the social network than you could imagine.
There are numerous ways to take advantage of the social media, and I explore new ways everyday. Having said that, I will endeavour to share some of the ways I productively use my social media below, and I am sure you will find it resourceful.
Great leaders I follow commonly exhibit the trait of inspiring people with their actions. If you are doing something great, and you feel it necessary to get other people partake in the process without forcing them, send a strong message to them with a deed. Your action may include the way you live, the way you speak, the way you write or the way you treat people around you.
Social media is a vital tool to influence people’s reasoning and judgement. The 140 characters you just tweeted on how you have failed in the past and how you made it in Africa, the YouTube documentary you made on a cancer survivor, your Instagram and Facebook update about how you toured 35 capital cities of the world on a thin wallet; may affect your followers’ thought on managing failure and success. It may affect their thought on life threatening illnesses and physical exercise, it may affect their view on expensive vacations.
I have driven many causes, using social media updates, comments and share. If you have great deal of followers on social media, and there are things you think are not right, you can be the change you want to see. Write about what is wrong, commend what is right, make videos, photos, infographics, audios etc and share it on your social media; you will be amazed with the feedback, if your content is brilliant.
I use social media to promote myself, brand and business. I write about little and big things that matter in all angles of life on my social media. Issues like education, society, business, leadership, politics, sports, nature, travel, to mention few;are the matters I post and share on my social media accounts.
The post may come in writing, images, video or audio; it may tell story that reads different meaning to followers, who may interpret the message in so many ways, but the message tends to be useful to readers who have interest in the area of the posted subject.
My followers gain more in reading or viewing such update, and it attracts them to stay connected with me, trust my judgement, and most times adopt my style. They share my post with their friends and followers who will also end up joining my circle of connection. They do not only join my circle, but believe in my opinion. This increases my popularity both online and offline.
I take advantage of this popularity and trust to promote my business and brand, while I also use it to publicize other people and businesses. You too can introduce yourself to the world, using social media. It only costs you to post updates that add value to people’s life.
After nature, book, everyday event and activities; another source of inspiration for me is the social media. I have a lot of intelligent followers on my social media page, and on the other side, I diligently choose who to follow on social media. I subscribe to pages that attract my interest; from art, philosophy, technology, literature, travel, fashion, politics to sport.
Each and everyday, I learn new things from people all around the world. I get inspired from messages, quotes, images, audios, videos and infographs shared by people I follow, people who follow me and pages I subscribe to.
It is a whole lot of fun to get inspiration on the social media. I used to rely only on nature, books and TV documentary programmes for inspiration, until I discovered social media as another way of sourcing inspiration.
Meanwhile, one has to be careful when taking on social media as tool to get you inspired, because not every post/information you get there is 100 percent factual. In fact, some of the messages you get on social media are absolutely wrong and misleading, this is why emphasis is laid on selecting reliable pages, followers and connections that share your interest.
Do you still wonder if there are more ways to maximize the use of social media? Keep up with this page, I will definitely keep you abreast. Until then, please try and utilize the tips above.
